Recognitions Conferred at the Ceremonial Senate Meeting on Hungarian Higher Education Day

The University of Pécs held its ceremonial Senate meeting on September 1st to commemorate Hungarian Higher Education Day. During the event, several faculty members and staff received prestigious recognitions.

Professor Dr Bálint Bachmann Honored with Pécs City Award for Technical Excellence

On September 1st, during the Pécs City Day celebrations at the Kodály Centre, the city's awards and honors were presented.

Among the recipients, Professor Dr Bálint Bachmann, Head of the Marcel Breuer Doctoral School at our Faculty, was awarded the Breuer Marcel Award – Pécs City Award for Technical Excellence. This award acknowledges his exceptional contributions to engineering, architecture, and education within the city.

The UP FEIT community extends its warmest congratulations to Prof Dr Bálint Bachmann on this prestigious recognition.

Silent Architecture Workshop Celebrates a Decade of Academic Collaboration

Students at Beihai University of Art and Design recently completed the two-week Silent Architecture workshop, an intensive international design program led by Prof. Dr. Ákos Hutter, Dr Erika Vörös, Júlia Bernadett Török, and Dr Jin Xin. The workshop was jointly organised by the Institute of Architecture of the Faculty of Engineering and IT at the University of Pécs and Beihai University of Art and Design. This year's program was opened by Prof. Dr Gabriella Medvegy, Dean of the Faculty.

UP FEIT Architecture Program Earns Prestigious UNESCO-UIA International Accreditation

The Institute of Architecture at the University of Pécs, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (UP FEIT), has been awarded the prestigious UNESCO–UIA Architectural Education Accreditation, administered by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
The full, unconditional accreditation concludes a rigorous two-year evaluation process—an honour currently held by only 11 institutions worldwide.

Prof. Dr. Gabriella Medvegy, Dean of the PTE MIK (UP FEIT), joins the Presidency of the Hungarian Chamber of Architects

At the end of October, the Hungarian Chamber of Architects held an election assembly to choose the new members of its leadership. The presidency held its inaugural meeting already in mid-November. The mandate of the body lasts for four years.

Our Faculty is filled with pride that Prof. Dr. Gabriella Medvegy, our dean, will hold one of the vice-presidential positions of the Chamber of Hungarian Architects in the upcoming term. We wish her great success in her work!

Interior design students honored at Las Vegas architecture competition

One of the highest awards the Interior and Spatial Design MA program of the University of Pécs has received was awarded to master's students participating in the international Buildner Architecture Competition.
The “Las Vegas Affordable Housing Challenge” competition called for projects that create new ways to reduce housing prices. The designers were asked to present a flexible, innovative, pilot-phase concept for affordable housing in Las Vegas. One team of students from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology of the University of Pécs, MA in Interior and Spatial Design, received an honorable mention, and the projects of three teams were among the top twenty.

UP FEIT presented its forward-looking approach to architecture at the Dubai Expo

The Dubai Expo also saw the unveiling of the faculty's most complex and holistic architectural project, a solar-powered house model, which was designed for the 2019 Solar Decathlon. This project will be developed further for the 2022 World Solar Decathlon in Wuppertal, Germany.

UP FEIT Institute of Architecture was the only Hungarian exhibitor at the Wuhan Design Week

The Wuhan Design Week takes place in a reclaimed industrial environment in Wuhan, China, a city with a population 13 million people, and our Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology was invited to present last year's New Normal, New City workshop.
